Activities

Crab Trap

Setting the trap    We like to set a crab trap, not for food, but to investigate the marine animals attracted to the bait in the trap. Participants also learn how to bait and set a crab trap. We return the animals to the water quickly so they are unharmed. We often catch Stone Crabs, Oyster Toad fish, octopus, small sharks and more. Keith also demonstrates the correct way to hold a crab or octopus without getting nipped. We encourage participants to make use of our field guide library to learn more about the animals we see.
