Letter of Support

Return to Monofilament Fishing Line Recovery and Recycling Program

Sept. 28, 2005

To Whom It May Concern

I have worked as a volunteer with the North Carolina Maritime Museums's Cape Lookout Studies Program for several years and have participated in one dolphin rescue attempt. Oddly enough this was a young animal that was entangled in heavy monofilament fishing line and no, he did not survive his injuries.

Through the years my wife and I have picked up fishing line wherever we find it and disposed of it properly. It would be wonderful to have proper disposal places along the fishing piers, beach accesses, etc.

As maintenance Supervisor for Carteret County Parks and Recreation we collect on a regular basis all types of debris from our managed areas including netting and discarded line. I would gladly support a program to help remove these dangers from our beaches and water ways and to help educated the public on how they can be a part of protecting our wild life.

Sincerely,

David Brown
